Our Story

OpenTug was founded by Jason Aristides, Mike Baldwin, and Luciano de la Iglesia.

Inspired by Jason's firsthand experiences in the maritime industry and his profound understanding of its challenges, they set out to revolutionize logistics operations on the waterways.

Who uses OpenTug?

OpenTug’s software tools are relied on by stakeholders throughout the nation’s waterways. This includes inland and coastal barge companies, bulk and breakbulk ocean lines, and organizations leveraging barge transport to move their products.

The OpenTug Marketplace is a digital network built to connect freight with barges and terminals nationwide. Shippers can request service from our network of operators and compare quotes, sign agreements and communicate in-app. Operators, terminals and other third-party users can market their services and capabilities to shippers, and quote more business with OpenTug.

Is there a fee to use the Marketplace?

What SaaS Tools does OpenTug offer?

OpenTug BargeOS and LinerOS are built specifically with the nuances of marine transportation in mind.

BargeOS enables operators to take control of their sales flow:
- BargeOS Quoting: Plan and estimate voyages, to produce fast, accurate quotes.
- BargeOS Booking: Enable customers to request services seamlessly online
- BargeOS Tracking: Monitor the status of voyages underway, with automated Daily Position Reports and exception notifications.

LinerOS gives scheduled service operators the agility to handle more cargo, with exceptional service.
- LinerOS Quoting: Get estimates out the door faster than ever before, with tariff-based semi or fully automated quote generation.
- LinerOS Booking: Give customers a single booking portal to access your business. LinerOS booking handles everything from order entry and booking confirmation, to cargo management and BOL generation.
- LinerOS Tracking: Keep customers up to date with their loads including transit time, loading progress, and current location of vessels.
